Trip West - May '09

Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska. After 12 hours of driving (and a lot of sleeping on my part) we camped along the Platte River in Nebraska. I had a great bike ride when I got there along an old railroad path and sat by one of the ponds to watch the sunset. It was so great to sleep outside!
Colorado, through the rockies, Utah. Another 12 hours of driving, we ended at Arches National Park and we were able to get in at the campground by sharing with another group, whew! Yoga and a good walk/run around the park. Arches and Utah I find amazing. So silent. The rocks rising magestically in all their odd shapes and forms there are such a quiet inspiration.
Utah, Nevada on the Lonliest Highway, camp at a barren lake east of the Sierras. On the way out of Arches we stopped to see a whole group of petroglyphs along a canyon. Another 12 hour day through mostly barren areas. A strong blueberry beer in a small town in the Middle of Nowhere, Nevada was a great break, and a culture shock. A neat old bar with old wood, slots, a bunch of characters and animal heads on the walls.
Nevada, California. Started the morning with some Tai Chi and headed into Tahoe. We stopped and hiked at this huge waterfall I always wanted to hike, saw family along the way down, then Napa. We took of on our bikes after unloading and visited with my friend Sara.
